April 15-19, 2023
It has been quite a few years since we went on a ski trip, so we decided to take a short trip to Breckenridge. The ski season usually goes way into spring there so it was a perfect time to go and avoid the crowds and the cheaper (still expensive) lift tickets.
My mom joined us on this trip to watch Hillarie while we skied. Also our friend Chris came with us. While this was only my second ski trip, Jonathan and Chris used to go on ski trips to North Carolina together. I’m slowly getting better at it!
We flew out on Saturday morning and this was Hillarie’s first flight.

We stayed at the Grand Lodge on Peak 7. We had a three bedroom room which was really three rooms with connecting doors on the interior. It was the perfect place to stay since you could ski in / ski out. Also you can take the gondola to the lodge on peak 8 where you can also ski in / ski out.
Jonathan, Chris and I skied for the three days we were there. We also took a ski lesson one of those days which was really helpful for us all and our instructor Logan was great. We rented our skis from Alpine Sports which was really convenient.
The lodge had an indoor/outdoor heated pool and we took advantage of it a couple of times while we were there.
The Breck Gondola also goes from the lodge to Main Street. However, the gondola does stop running an after the ski lifts close for the day. One afternoon Mom, Hillarie and I took the gondola into town to shop. The guys met us for dinner that night so we had a ride back to the lodge.
Some of the places we ate were Empire Burger, Breckenridge Ale House & Pizza, The Canteen Tap House & Tavern, Rita’s Agave Y Tacos and ice cream at Stir-Pan Creamery. All were delicious!
We had a great time and Hillarie did great on her first flight to and from Denver!
