This was my second girls getaway to Gatlinburg with my friends Karen and Michelle. Again, we left on Friday night after work and headed east. We stayed at the Bearskin Lodge on the River.
The next morning we set out early and started our first hike of the day on the Old Sugarlands Trail. We had the trail to ourselves and enjoyed our morning hike; however, we didn’t do the full trail due to several trees that had fallen down. We even saw a fawn on the trail that let us get really close. It was a very cool moment. Click here to see video @somanyplacessolittletimeblog
Next, we did the Alum Cave Trail. This is also the trail that leads up to Mt LeConte, but we only hiked a little past the Arch Rock.
After returning to the car, we drove into Cades Cove.
For lunch, we drove to the Island in Pigeon Forge to eat at Margaritaville at The Island in Pigeon Forge and to do some shopping in the area.
We later relaxed at the hotel before walking the Gatlinburg strip, doing some moonshine tasting at Sugarland Shines, and eating dinner at Smoky Mountain Brewery.
Sunday we drove through Cades Cove again but still no bears were spotted.
We made one last stop at the outlet mall in Sevierville to do some shopping before returning home.
See you again next year Great Smoky Mountains!
