Hilton Head Island South Carolina October 2020

I wanted to write a short little post about beach trip a took in October with my Mom, my sister Casey, and my nephew Barrett.

It had been years since we had been on a family trip, so we went on a four day weekend trip to Hilton Head Island SC. Growing up in West Tennessee, we always went to the gulf beaches. So we decided to mix things up and go somewhere new to all of us.

We left on Wednesday night and drove to McDonough, GA where we spent the night at the Tru by Hilton . I’ve definitely become a fan of these hotels.

The next morning after breakfast at Chik-fil-a, we headed to the beach!

Luckily the AirBnb condo we rented at the Hilton Head Island Beach & Tennis Resort was ready early and we were able to unload our stuff before going to the beach.

The October temps at the beach were perfect and we enjoyed the afternoon together.

For dinner we drove to the Harbour Town / Sea Pines area of the island. FYI you do have to pay an entrance fee of $9 for this area.

We had dinner at The Crazy Crab before walking to see the lighthouse and boats.

Of course B had to check out the massive playground before we went back to the condo.

Friday we spent another great sunny day at the beach!

For dinner we ate at Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks. We really liked this place, but be prepared for a wait! We arrived a little before 5 o’clock and waited 45 minutes for a table. We sat on the patio and saw a beautiful sunset on the water. Casey and I had the crab claws and she crab soup while mom had the coconut shrimp.

After dinner we drove to the Coligny Plaza shopping area; however, most of the shops were closed or about to close for the day. We did have some yummy ice cream at the Frozen Moo.

Saturday was much cooler out so we took B to the playground at the resort before going to the beach.

The resort had a bar & grill at the pool so we were able to order to-go drinks and food to enjoy on the beach each day.

For our last night we made reservations at Skull Creek Dockside for dinner. Mom and I shared a pound of the peel & eat shrimp. Casey had the crab cakes. We both had more she crab soup and shared dessert!

Sunday morning it was time for us to head back to TN, but we stopped at Petit Farms outside of Atlanta along the way. There B was able to see a giraffe, feed some camels, pet some goats & sheep, and pick himself out a pumpkin to take home.

We had a great mini family vacation and would definitely go back to Hilton Head Island!
