Mammoth Cave

August 13, 2019

Jonathan and I checked another National Park off of the list!

We took a short day trip to Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky. We did the Violet City Lantern Tour – 3 miles of underground trail by lantern light learning about the cave history was so cool! We were so fortunate to have Ranger Jerry as our tour guide. He is the great-great grandson of one of the original explorers/guides, Mat, whose name is still on the wall inside the cave today. The park offers many tours of the cave that need to be reserved in advance because many of the tours sell out quickly or are only offered at certain times. We definitely want to go back and do another tour of cave. It was a great summer activity since the cave was nice and cool.
